seemeeimbeebee asked: Did you hear about Indiana opting out of the Common Core standards? If so what are your thoughts/feelings/opinions/etc.?
If you’ve followed me for, like, a week, you know I don’t know I don’t like Common Core.
But this is my face looking at Indiana’s proposed “own” standards.
They’re CCSS with fairy dust on top.
Stop treating grades like grade bands (9-10, 11-12) and then give a frickin’ ECA specific to each grade level. Asinine. Each grade needs and deserves its own standards and benchmarks.
And they should be based on, ya know, educational psychology, not just a “let’s make it HARD!” philosophy.
Indiana’s 2006 standards, particularly those for ELA and math, were rated higher by the Fordham Institute than the CCSS.
I’m not opposed to renovations, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Indiana became the first state to adopt, then repeal, the Common Core State Standards.
I am dreading the curriculum meetings I will be sitting through in the next couple months. That’s all I have to say about this for now.
One of the public hearings took place in my district and tea party protesters were screaming and causing an uproar. The appeal seems to be driven by all of the wrong reasons.
The “why you bringing up old shit” expression.
Switchin it up! Yay or nay? #doilooklikekarayet
